Amber: Do You Want Moore?

"Be careful what you wish for," is advice our parents gave us growing up, but advice Dolphins fans ignored as they begged Dolphins Head Coach, Adam Gase, to give them Matt Moore starting under center. Dolphins fans went so far as cheering as an injured Jay Cutler, with multiple broken bones, walked off the field last week and Moore came into the game.
This week, Dolphins fans got what they wished for as Moore started a game under center for the first time this season. As a result, fans witnessed a 40 point shutout loss to the Baltimore Ravens. I use the term ‘witnessed’ because watching the game felt a lot like witnessing a crime.
To be clear, the loss wasn’t Moore’s fault; at least, it wasn’t his fault alone. Moore had plenty of help losing that game. It’s, also, not that Moore isn’t good. In fact, Moore is great - a great backup quarterback. What he’s not is a great starting quarterback, and Dolphins fans need to stop wishing for him to be one whenever the offense stalls or the team struggles. So, next time you find yourself beginning to wish Matt Moore was starting, take your parents advice and be careful what you wish for, or it might result in a humiliating blowout loss.
